Here is a great interview with Walter Sear. He is the man behind the legendary NYC recording studio Sear Sound.

Doing some mixing today. Great Monday for it.

Ooo girl…I have both 1176 compressors built and calibrated. I took plenty of photos during the build process and will soon write a how-to. Just need to finish up some projects in the studio first.

Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band is the most important rock & roll album ever made, an unsurpassed adventure in concept, sound, songwriting, cover art and studio technology by the greatest rock & roll group of all time. From the title song’s regal blasts of brass and fuzz guitar to the orchestral seizure and long, dying piano chord at the end of “A Day in the Life,” the 13 tracks on Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band are the pinnacle of the Beatles’ eight years as recording artists. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr were never more fearless and unified in their pursuit of magic and transcendence.
The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band was released 46 years ago today.

Freaky.
So I have two kits put together to build a couple of rev f 1176’s. I’ve started the first one. Once I get it built and have mapped out all the kinks, I think I’m going to document building the second one as a tutorial for anyone on here who might be interested in building their own, and who would like a step by step to go by.

Daft Punk - Get Lucky (feat. Pharrell Williams)

I mean how could I not? I was honestly kind of scared for Daft Punk because while the Tron soundtrack was amazing, they hadn’t come out with a new album since 2007. Since then music has continually grown and I was scared they’d get swallowed up in the much more prevalent field of electro music. But with one song they restored my hope. It still has that perfect Daft Punk sound and I just can’t sit still when I listen to it.

I know we’ve all been listening to it for a week or so now since someone was smart enough to grab it from French radio and pass it around on Tumblr but I’m glad to mark today as when it actually came into my music library. I can’t wait until May 21st when it’s joined by its brethren.

The force from the beginning,

-Zach

Hot damn I can’t stop listening to this song!

New toy.

Here is a little throwback. Back in 2010, I was the on location recordist and post sound mixer for this documentary called the Chevy Bricktown Showcase. Here is a video from one of the more fun days. Hiphopotamus was a cool band to record and mix, and so was little league hero.
